RECAP OF FRIDAY'S GAME AGAINST JA FAIR

Sophomore quarterback Tucker Granberry threw three first-half touchdown passes to lead the Morrilton High School football team to its first win of the season, 47-12, over J.A. Fair at Devil Dog Stadium on Friday night. The Devil Dogs scored on the first play of the game when a fumble by the War Eagles on the opening kickoff was recovered by junior Xaviar Clemons who ran it into the endzone for the 7-0 lead. That play would become the Dixon Family Dental Big Smile Play of the Game. The Devil Dogs would find the endzone five more times in the first half to build a 41-6 lead and invoke the sportsmanship rule for the entire second half. Two of Granberry's scoring passes went to senior Mason Adams. Senior Terry Franklin also had a touchdown reception. Sophomore Jackson Moll ran for 88 yards and a score and Clemons had 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Sophomore Darien Newsome returned an interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for Morrilton. Granberry earned Colton's Offensive Player of the Game honors, completing 9-of-17 passes for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Reggie Toney was the Colton's Defensive Player of the Game with six tackles and an interception. Senior Andrew Lentz led the defense with eight tackles. Senior right tackle Parker Dean was the Dickson Auto Mall Impact Player of the Game, leading the way for the Devil Dog offense to run for 243 yards. Now 1-2 on the season, the Devil Dogs are off this week before starting 5A West conference play at home against Harrison on September 21st.
