MHS girls and boys win District titles

MHS GIRLS AND BOYS WIN DISTRICT TITLES

Morrilton's senior high basketball teams swept the 4A-4 District titles. The girls beat Ozark in the championship game on Saturday, while the boys beat Dardanelle. After beating Ozark by a combined three points in the two regular season matchups, the Lady Devil Dogs dominated the Lady Hillbillies from the opening tip, knocking down eight first-half three-pointers on the way to a 53-27 victory. Sophomore Cheyanne Kemp led Morrilton with 17 points. Junior Grace Grown followed with 16 points, including four three-pointers and senior Kennedy Reel finished with 12 points on four three-pointers. The Lady Devil Dogs carry a 15-game win streak and the number one seed into this week's North Region Tournament in Ozark. They'll face Berryville on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m... Morrilton's boys got 12 points apiece from seniors Darrius Allison and Brock Hendrix in a 52-43 victory over the Sandlizards. The Devil Dogs are now 15-5 on the season and, as the district's number one seed, will face Shiloh Christian on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the North Region Tournament in Ozark...
